Description : Dr KAL Tablets are enriched with calcium and VitaminD3. Calcium, a mineral present in dietary sources naturally, and an essential nutrient for the body. It plays an important role in the proper functioning of muscles, nerves, bones and cells. Its deficiency generally occurs in the case when the body does not get enough amount of calcium from the diet. Its deficiency can cause Osteoporosis (bone loss), Osteomalacia (weak bones) and hypoparathyroidism (decrease in the activity of parathyroid hormone). Calcium carbonate is a calcium supplement which helps to raise blood calcium level and prevent bone loss (osteoporosis) and weakness of bone (osteomalacia). It is a basic inorganic salt with antacids property, and it acts mainly by neutralizing hydrochloric acid present in gastric secretions, thus prevent/ treat indigestion and heartburn conditions. It controls the excitability of nerves and muscles and regulates the permeability of the cell membrane. It also regulates cell adhesion and maintains the integrity of the cell membrane.
Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble sterol, a form of vitamin D called Cholecalciferol. In the liver, it gets metabolized into an active metabolite named calcitriol. Calcitriol stimulates the absorption of phosphate and calcium from the small intestine and regulates calcium and phosphate homeostasis in the body.
Calcium carbonate prevents or treat low blood calcium level by raising their level to normal, used for the management of osteoporosis (bone loss), osteomalacia/rickets (weak bones), and for the treatment of hypoparathyroidism (the decreased activity of parathyroid glands).
